UCBAC, Regional, and State Playoff News....

On Sat, Nov 8, the Husky Varsity cross country team, UCBAC Susquehanna Division champs, competed amongst a large field of runners in the 1A Cross Country State Championships at Hereford High.  Four runners medaled--2 in the top 25 and 1 in the top 10.  For individual scores, please click here.  Congratulations to our runners for a strong showing and a great season!!!

The Regional Semi-final playoff round of the 1A Mens Football State Tournament were set based on the regular season points standings.  Unfortunately, the Huskies did not have the point totals to qualify this season.  Regional semifinal games did take place on Nov 14 and 15 with local winners (Havre de Grace and Joppatowne) advancing to the Regional Finals this coming weekend.  Congratulations to the Varsity football team on their first Varsity season!!!

On Wed, Nov 5, the #2 seeded womens Varsity volleyball team went up against a strong team from Caroline County, #3 seeded Colonel Richardson, in the 1A East Region Semi-final of the 1A Womens Volleyball State Tournament held at Patterson Mill. The ladies fought hard, but were defeated 3-0.

The ladies received a BYE in the first round before defeating the #7 seeded Harford Tech Cobras 3-2 in second round play to advance to the regional semi-final contest against Colonel Richardson.  The ladies concluded their season with an impressive 11-6 record and look forward to a strong season next year!!!

On Mon, Nov 3, the womens Varsity field hockey team, the #1 seeded 1A North Regional Champion, battled against the Glenelg Gladiators, the #1 seeded 1A West Regional Champion, in the state semi-final round of the 1A Womens Field Hockey State Tournament at Broadneck High.

In the end, the Gladiators prevailed 6-0 to earn a playoff berth for the State Championship against Pocomoke at Washington College on Sat, Nov 8 (11:00 AM).  Congratulations on a great season!!!  Read all about it in the sports section of the Baltimore Sun.

The ladies received a BYE in the first and second rounds before defeating #4 seed Carver A&T 4-0 in third round play.  Next, they defeated the #3 seeded Harford Tech Cobras 3-1 in the fourth round to be crowned the 1A North champs and proceed to the state semi-finals.

On Mon, Nov 3, the 6th seeded womens Varsity soccer team lost its bid for the 1A South Regional Soccer Championship in a close 1-0 loss against the #8 seeded Glenelg Gladiators from Howard County at Patterson Mill.  If not for the great saves by Husky goalies, Brooke Olszewski and Jess Butta, the score would not have been so close.

On the road to playing for the Regional Championship, the ladies received a BYE in the first round, defeated the #3 seeded Perryville Panthers 3-0 in second round action, and dispatched the #10 seeded Joppatowne Mariners 7-0 in the 3rd round of play.  Like the mens team, the ladies team competed without the benefit of senior players.  Congratuations ladies on a great post-season rally!!!

Super, big congratulations to our mens Varsity soccer team, UCBAC Susquehanna Division champs, who clenched the division title with their 4-3 win in double overtime over the Havre de Grace Warriors on Thur, Oct 16.  The Huskies' season got off to a slow start, with 5 straight losses, then did a 180 with a tie against Hardford Tech and 6 straight victories over division opponents, finishing 6-0-1 in the Susquehanna and 6-5-1 overall.

On Wed, Oct 22, our champs competed for the UCBAC Championship against C. Milton Wright, the Chesapeake Division champs, on North Harford's artifical turf field.  In the end, the Mustangs came out on top 2-0, winning the UCBAC Championship. It should be noted that the Huskies have no Seniors on the team--none, nada, zip--which should make for an even stronger team next year.

The Huskies shifted gears into regional playoffs.  Having received a first round BYE in the 1A Mens Soccer State Tournament, the #6 seeded Huskies defeated the #3 seeded Perryville Panthers on Wed, Oct (weather delayed one day) 5-3 in second round play.

They advanced to the third round the very next day against the #2 seeded Havre de Grace Warriors, who defeated the Huskies 3-2.  Tied 2-2 at the end of two sudden-death overtime periods, they entered the penalty kick phase where the Warriors connected on their first three kicks while the Huskies missed the mark on their penalty kicks.  Again, congratulations men on a great season!!!

    Other News and Events....

Don't forget to mark your calendars for the first-ever Patterson Mill Athletic Boosters' Oyster and Bull Roast on March 28 from 7-11 PM at the Jarrettsville Gardens.  Besides great food, there will be music and dancing, money wheels, raffles, auctions, and more.  Be there!!!

Fall Membership Drive results are great!!!.  Currently, the membership roll stands at 122 members and climbing.  Thank you to all that have renewed their memberships and to all of our new members.  The doors are always open to become a member--just click here.

Beyond membership, we invite you to volunteer for committees and events to support our sports programs at Patterson Mill.  We are in year 2 of the wear and tear cycle on equipment and uniforms.  Uniforms typically have a three-year life, so we need to begin to plan and program funds for this eventuality in addition to our other goals and projects.  This requires participation by all stakeholders--students, administration, coaches, parents, and the Patterson Mill Athletic Boosters.

    Husky Stadium Scoreboard Demo

Below is the conceptual artwork for the proposed Husky Stadium scoreboard.  The scoreboard's framework allows for the modular design and installation of scoreboard components--all of the components can be installed all at once (as shown below) or they can be phased in.  For instance, the most basic scoreboard configuration would consist of the "stat" board--scores, time left, period, etc.

The next step up would be to snap in the scrolling digital display (MAKE SOME NOISE) at the bottom.  The final configuration would include the installation of the Daktronics "SportStar Live" Video Board at the top, which is capable of playing video such as instant replays, sponsor ads, athelete interviews, etc.
